Baseball Academy, Kansas City
Our philosophy at the Advanced Baseball Academy is simple and based on common sense. We have a players first mentality; this means that we have the player’s and team’s best interests in mind. The program’s focus is not based on winning alone, but on player and team development.
By focusing on fundamental skill set, winning will take care of itself. Please remember this though: ABA is not a “travel team”, we are a College Developmental Program. Our program is geared towards players development in the game of baseball and helping them achieve their goals of playing college baseball and beyond.. Coaches and Scouts will only care about the skills that you are able to perform on the day they are watching. So with that said, let’s get into some of the heart and soul behind our philosophy.
Focus on the fundamental skill set, winning will take care of itself.
Role Models
The entire coaching staff are role models. The way we conduct ourselves on and off the field is a direct reflection of how our players will perform and behave on and off the field. You have probably heard it said that players take on the personality of their coaches. This is very true. There is a right way and a wrong way to play the game, and we strive to instill in the kids a drive and work ethic that will help them reach the next level.
Be Positive
We provide a positive learning atmosphere for your son to learn the game of baseball, from the basic fundamentals to the more complex aspects of the game. In order for him to get the best experience, a positive atmosphere is important. This also includes the parents. Please don’t be a negative parent who contradicts what we teach; it only confuses the player, and he doesn’t know who to trust. When a parent believes in what the coaches are teaching and has positive commentary about the program, your son will be more excited when he shows up for practice and games.
Dare to Care
Each player needs to know that we care for him as an individual and that we believe he is an important part of the team. We will take time to talk to all players individually and take interest in what is going on in their life outside of baseball. We want to make a difference on and off the field.
Having Fun
Fun is essential for kids of all ages. We develop practices that let them do the things they enjoy. It’s also important for you and the coaches have fun. We will create an environment that is structured and varied enough for the players and the coaches to enjoy. If we are not having fun, why are we out here?
